Help other gem experts attend the GIA Gemological Research Conference.
The Gemological Research Conference (GRC) is sponsored by a generous donation from Charles & Colvard, Ltd. The GRC provides an opportunity for world-class gemologists and scientists from allied disciplines to share their findings with one another. Most of the world’s gem deposits are located in developing countries, and technical experts from these countries commonly lack the financial resources to attend international conferences such as the GRC.
The first-hand knowledge these experts have of natural gemstones makes them the very experts we want to attract. Their expertise may advance our ability to document new gem sources, and to better detect synthetics and treatments - which will better ensure the integrity of gemology and the public trust in the gem and jewelry industry.
In addition, we hope to attract university students active in related scientific disciplines to the study of gemology. Many of these students, too, will need financial support to participate in the conference.
