Come celebrate a gala 75 years in the making. With world-class entertainment, a special exhibit featuring important gem and jewelry pieces, celebrity guests, and spectacular networking opportunities, GIA’s 75th Anniversary Celebration is going to be nothing less than an historic occasion. We’re getting excited just planning the evening.

It’s not every day we commemorate 75 years of research, innovation, and education – and this is not going to be just any night.

Round-trip transportation provided from the Manchester Grand Hyatt to GIA World Headquarters and Robert Mouawad Campus.

Sunset Soirée
Monday, August 28, 6 – 8pm

Manchester Grand Hyatt, Downtown San Diego

Imagine: a cocktail party by a pool by a bay. In a word: spectacular. We’re going to deck out the 4th floor pool deck. It takes a lot to upstage the breathtaking San Diego skyline at twilight…but that’s exactly what we’re going to do.

Between the sounds and the scenery – your senses will be on overload.

GIA Gemological Research Conference Events & Activities

Field trips to the world-famous Pala pegmatite district will take place Friday, August 25 and Wednesday, August 30 (approximately 8 am to 7 pm). The August 25 trip has sold out, but there are still some spaces available on the August 30 trip, so register soon. No more than 50 full registrants for the GIA Gemological Research Conference and/or International Gemological Symposium can be accommodated.

Preliminary arrangements have been made for underground tours of three mines that are located in two areas of the Pala district (Stewart mine on Queen Mountain and the Pala Chief and Elizabeth R mines on Chief Mountain). The participants will be divided into two groups, and each group will be given an opportunity to visit both mining areas. Although participants also will be allowed to dig in the mine dumps, the main focus of the mine visits will be on science and education. The field trip fee of $75 will include ground transportation from the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, a light breakfast, and a boxed lunch. The field trip breakfasts will be held at Pala International/The Collector in Fallbrook, where participants will be treated to a behind-the-scenes tour.
